Sunday 10th March 2013
Wellow Youth 2 v Eastleigh Youth 1

Wellow returned to winning ways with an important win over close rivals Eastleigh.

Another freezing Sunday morning saw the Wellow manager, Tim Hinton change the set up of the side, and the first 20 minutes showed the best of Wellow, with quick passing and good movement.

After 15 minutes, Adam Cater played in Sam Arnold, whose initial shot was well saved by the Eastleigh keeper but Arnold was on hand to finish from close range from the rebound, to give Wellow the lead.
Eastleigh almost equalised, when a bad back pass was latched onto, but Ed Barnes made a fine diving save to keep the visitors out.

Wellow had a number of chances, with Ben Caffyn going close with a long distance effort, but both teams were well matched. Guy Johnson worked well down the left flank, and Ollie Lambert had a good shot saved.

Barnes could not keep out the next chance though, as another defensive slip let in the Eastleigh striker, who finished neatly off the post.

The second half started well for Wellow, as a flowing move ended with Ollie Fowler producing a neat finish with his left foot in the first minute!

Wellow continued to press, but Eastleigh also had chances, and the match made compelling viewing for the cold supporters from both clubs.

The final whistle, after a lengthy period of injury time brought an end to the game, and Wellow go into the remaining three games of their season with confidence.

Sunday 24th February 2013
Wellow Youth 1 v Sholing Youth White 3

Wellow lost to the league leaders for the second time this season, but had chances to win against the vocal lads from the east of Southampton. The frequent scream of ‘its too quiet’ resounded around the village!

The visitors took the lead in the first minute, when direct from the kick-off they attacked down the left hand side and their striker scored well with a left foot shot.

Wellow soon found their feet and were competing well, and should have equalised when Ollie Fowler shot direct at the keeper from close range when Mike Olaore cut the ball back from the by-line. Cam Earley worked well down the right, and Ollie Fowler chased every ball.

Olaore also went close, but the chance fell to his weaker left foot.

Sholing also went close during the first half, hitting the woodwork, but the score remained 1.0 at the break.

The second half brought an even contest, but Sholing scored twice to make it 3.0, before a penalty was awarded and Rory Saunders smashed home from the spot.

Despite a fine game in the middle of midfield, Sam Arnold will rue a missed chance when he hit the post, and the Sholing keeper made 3 outstanding stops to keep Wellow at bay.
